Filmmakers Michael and Janeen Damian team up with Choreographer Dave Scott to transfuse the unbridled edge of hip hop with classical music and dance in their explosive new film High Strung.
Ruby Adams a ballerina from the Midwest has just won a scholarship to Manhattan Conservatory of the Arts. Johnnie Blackwell, a talented British hip-hop violinist living in NYC can’t get a job without a visa. So he takes up busking in the subway. When a hip hop battle gone wrong throws these two radically talented people from opposite sides of the tracks together, they immediately clash but can’t help falling for each other. With the help of a dance crew named the SwitchSteps, Ruby and Johnnie must navigate the pitfalls that come with chasing their dreams in one of the most competitive cities in the world.
In an action packed display of cutting edge hip hop, contemporary and classical dance they all prepare for a competition where winning or losing could change their lives forever.
Starring, Keenan Kampa (Mariinsky Ballet’s first American) as Ruby, Nicholas Galitzine (The Beat Beneath My Feet) as Johnnie and a stunning International Cast including Jane Seymour (Live and Let Die, Dr, Quinn; Medicine Woman), Paul Freeman (Raiders of the Lost Ark), Mia Morgenstern (The Passion of the Christ) plus 62 of the World’s Best Dancers.
High Strung will be coming to theaters summer 2015.
